You may also want to check the following possibility below.

  Report came in from multiple users for an error message "missing shell.dll". This happens when virus act on shell.dll and anti-virus delete this file from your system folder under windows folder. If this happens, you may download the fresh copy of shell.dll from ftp://ftp.jcresearch.com/shell.dll and save it in the system folder within windows folder. There are virus out there that attack this window .dll file, and you do not notice until an application program uses it. Learning System program launcher uses this window components.

Media Player Error

Error message when you start up titles marked by "*" in main menu. Can you find link to ....Media Player 7....."

Titles with (*)

Some titles in Elementary and few tiles in Middle school affected

  Well, we have a small issue with some of titles included in the earlier version of Learning System. Title with asterisks (*) in elementary and middle school uses Media Player from Microsoft. Microsoft made some changes recently and this change affected these titles. If you downloaded the new version of Mediaplayer, you may get an error message. MAC user is not affected as far as the Mediaplyer is installed from disc. We do not suggest to obtain the upgrade from Microsoft. There is a compatibility issues. Two ways to solve this problem. (1)You can manually play videos, or (2) download a patch and use this patch to start video

(1) Manually play videos.

Go into the folder of DVD1 in Elementary School, or DVD2 in Middle school, find the folder of titles such as sci-heart, or geo-civic

Find the folder "video" where you see video lesson is organized as lesson1.asf, lesson2.asf, and so on.

Start video using Media Player

(2) Download patch and use new fixed program

Follow the steps below;

1.  Please copy the folders of titles into your hard drive. Folders are sci-heart, sci-bones, geo-civic, etc.

2. Then, down load the following small file (patch) and save it inside of each folders.

ftp://ftp.jcresearch.com/IE-fix/elementary-fix.zip

ftp://ftp.jcresearch.com/IE-fix/middle-fix.zip

3. copy index.htm file from unzipped folder into the title folder, over-write existing index.htm

4. When you start up index.htm by double clicking using Internet Explore, it should work now. For Mac user, you drag index.htm onto Internet Explorer's icon to start up with Internet Explore
